What is canine massage?

Canine massage is much like massage for humans – a natural, relaxing therapy that eases sore muscles, improves mobility, and reduces stress. Through light to moderate pressure and soothing strokes, I help increase your dog's circulation, release muscle tension, and trigger the relaxation response.

The result? A calmer, more comfortable dog with a wagging tail and a brighter spirit. Many vets and pet professionals recommend massage as a complementary therapy for a variety of conditions, from arthritis to anxiety, because it's gentle, drug-free, and effective.

Canine Massage Wellness Services

Dogs can't speak to us in words, but their bodies tell a story. Here are some common situations where our massage therapy can make a difference.

Post-Surgery or Injured Dogs

Support your dog's recovery and healing. Therapeutic massage increases circulation and may reduce inflammation, which helps speed up healing and prevent scar tissue from building up. (Always with your veterinarian's approval as part of the recovery plan.) Gentle massage around the affected area can also help manage pain and keep other muscles from becoming tense due to compensating for the injury.

Senior Dog Relief

Ease arthritis pain and stiffness, improve flexibility and mobility, and bring comfort to your aging best friend. Massage can help an older dog get up and down more easily and even sleep more soundly at night. Many owners notice their senior companions becoming more playful and comfortable after regular sessions.

For the energetic adventurers – whether your dog loves long beach runs, agility training, or is a working dog – massage can help prevent injuries, relieve muscle soreness from play or work, and improve flexibility. It's like a sports massage for your pup, keeping them in top shape and ready for the next adventure! Regular massage can also help extend your active dog's career and overall athletic lifespan.

Anxious or Rescue Dogs

Support your dog's recovery and healing. Therapeutic massage increases circulation and may reduce inflammation, which helps speed up healing and prevent scar tissue from building up. Gentle massage around the affected area can also help manage pain and keep other muscles from becoming tense due to compensating for the injury.

And let's not forget overall wellness:

Any dog can enjoy massage as a special treat to feel loved and pampered. Many clients tell us their dogs seem happier and more relaxed for days after a session – less anxious barking, more tail wagging, and even improvements in issues like digestion or limping. It's amazing what a little TLC can do.

At Agape Canine Massage, we tailor each session to fit your dog's specific needs and personality. No two dogs are the same, so no two massages are exactly alike – and that's how it should be!

Why Your Dog Will Love It (and You Will Too!)

Improves Circulation

Reduces Pain & Stiffness

Massage increases blood flow, delivering more oxygen and nutrients to muscles and tissues while helping remove toxins and waste products.

Gentle manipulation of muscles and joints helps alleviate pain from arthritis, hip dysplasia, and other conditions that cause discomfort in dogs.

Decreases Anxiety

Enhances Mobility

The calming effects of massage help reduce stress and anxiety in nervous or fearful dogs, promoting relaxation and emotional well-being.

Regular massage helps maintain and improve joint flexibility and range of motion, especially beneficial for senior dogs and those recovering from injuries.

Multi-Session Wellness Packages

(60 minutes)

Ideal for first-timers. This includes a friendly introduction where I get to meet you and your dog, discuss any health history or concerns, and assess areas that might need extra attention. Then, I'll perform a full-body therapeutic massage on your dog, adjusting pressure and technique based on their comfort.

We'll also discuss a wellness plan going forward. If your dog is very nervous or excitable, I might spend extra time in this first session just helping them acclimate and relax – building trust is my first priority.

(30 minutes)

A focused massage appointment for maintenance or targeting specific issues. Great for regular wellness upkeep or for dogs with short attention spans. In 30 minutes, we can accomplish a lot – from loosening up tight back muscles to giving an anxious dog a dose of calm.

Many clients book these weekly or bi-weekly for ongoing conditions or stress relief. These sessions are perfect for maintaining the benefits achieved in longer sessions.

(60 minutes)

A longer massage for deeper work or multiple problem areas. This is perfect for larger breeds, senior dogs with multiple achy spots, or any pup who absolutely adores their massage and never wants it to end!

The extended time allows for full-body coverage and extra focus where needed (for example, spending additional time gently stretching the legs of a dog with arthritis). These comprehensive sessions provide maximum therapeutic benefit.

Consistency can amplify the benefits of massage. For dogs with chronic pain, anxiety, or in post-surgery rehab, we offer package deals (e.g., 5 sessions or 10 sessions at a special rate).

By committing to a series, you ensure your dog gets continuous care, and you save on the per-session cost. It's a win-win – your dog builds a comfortable routine with their massage therapist, and you'll likely notice cumulative improvements in their mood and mobility over the weeks.

Contact us for package pricing details and we can recommend an ideal schedule for your pet.
